About Us

Trillium Landscape Design was founded with the goal of creating sustainable and eco-friendly gardens that are beautiful and also benefit the natural world around us. Brian Matson (Owner) has a Bachelors in Science from Evergreen State College where they studied PNW forest ecology and mycology. Each garden design is inspired by their love of native plants and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Brian mentored for 3 years under Glenn Withey and Charles Price while working for Withey Price Landscape and Design, where they worked as a horticulturist specializing in high end gardening and garden maintenance. During this time they also earned a technical degree in landscape design at Edmonds College and was placed by the college on the all Washington Academic Team as well as completed the master pruning course with Plant Amnesty. Brian then went on to other companies to gather experience in design, landscape construction, and obtain multiple certifications including becoming an ISA Certified Arborist and a Certified Professional Horticulturist through WSNLA. Brian officially started their own company in summer of 2023.
